BIOGRAPHY: Current role and responsibilities: Being the CEO of RTL Klub since May 2001, I am responsible for ensuring that we (over) deliver the financial expectations of our different shareholders and increase the value of the company. RTL Klub has become one of the most profitable stations of RTL Group in terms of EBITDA margin with an EBITDA of Euro Mio 25 in 2006 representing an increase of profitability of 157% since 2000. My main focus is my assignment in Hungary but I am also helping both RTL Group in operational matters (set up of RTL Croatia for eg.) as well as helping our Hungarian shareholder (IKO Group) to develop its cable channel activities in Eastern Europe.This included the launch of Film+ and SportKlub (respectively movie and sports thematic channels) in Hungary, Romania, Poland, Serbia, Bosnia and Slovenia. Career history and educational background: I joined RTL Group (still CLT at the time) in 95 and started at Luxemburgish Headquarters as deputy to the Head of TV activities getting involved in free TV operations as well as our pay TV projects in France and Germany. In 97 I was offered the opportunity to be part of the launchteam of our station in Hungary to become subsequently CEO. Prior to this, I started my career in 92 as deputy to the CEO of “Circulo de Lectores”, the Barcelona based bookclub of Bertelsmann (Direct Group). I went to school in Brussels (European school), studied economics and journalism at the Louvain Catholic University and specialized through a Master in European Law and Economics from ICADE in Madrid. Personal information: I am a real European, being half Spanish,half German born in Belgium. My mother tongues are French and Spanish and I am fluent in English, German and Italian with some basic knowledge of Hungarian. I have two children and my main hobbies are media (television) and sports (soccer, ski and tennis).
